British supercar manufacturer McLaren Automotive is moving its North American base of operations to North Texas.
The company has rented 30,000 square feet of office and industrial space in a Coppell business park where it plans to relocate its regional headquarters operation from New York City.
“With the amazing growth of the McLaren brand here in North America over the past eight years, we are continually trying to keep pace with the needs we have as an operation to ensure we are able to give the very best in customer and retailer service,” North American president Tony Joseph said in a statement. “This new Texas facility means we now have the space and location to deliver even faster and effective support to our 27 strong retailer network “
McLaren Automotive’s luxury sports cars are manufactured at the company’s plant in Surrey, England and shipped to the U.S.
Since entering the U.S. market eight years ago, McLaren has has sold more than 7,000 of its cars, which start in price near $200,000.
The automaker is moving from a 4,500 square foot office in downtown New York to the Coppell Business Center complex on Belt Line Road near LBJ Freeway. Lincoln Property Co. leases the buildings.
McLaren said its North American team numbers 27, and nearly half will work out of the new facility.
“Our team is thrilled to welcome McLaren’s new North American headquarters to our region,” Dale Petroskey, president and CEO of the Dallas Regional Chamber, said in a statement. “The fact that this globally respected company – with its reputation for luxury, performance, and innovation – chose Coppell is yet another example that Dallas-Fort Worth is the ideal location for international mobility and technology companies.”
McLaren said its sales are up more than 17% this year and the brand is preparing to unveil 14 new models. The relocation will take place in October.
